Friday/Saturday, Maplelag and Opportunities

As of now the Brainerd race is Scheduled for Saturday the 29th. There may be race location changes and time changes. Please continue to check back for updates!!

Winter break is an opportunity to take a giant glide forward or slide back.
We will have practice over break. Monday the 24th 7-9am, Wednesday 7-9am and maybe other days as well. A trip to Elm Creek to get in classic tracks might be on the schedule.

Do you want to race Varsity or learn to Classic Ski? If so I will be fitting Classic skis over break. I'll have a sign up at practice.

MAPLELAG-I just sent out an e-mail with the details.

If you can't find time to ski you can still be active. Go for a run, do core and strength routines we did during dryland. We're already moving into the second half of the season. Things really start to move now. All races are away. More school we be missed, get ahead in school and continue to touch base with your teachers.

The Holiday Party was phenomenal. Great gift ideas;-) Was so happy Santa made an appearance! Hope everyone survived sledding.

Enjoy the Holidays everyone.

Saturday Varsity Race arrive at Tech Door 17 at 7:15am.

I know we're spinning loop after loop and it's easy to fall into a rut. Be aware of your technique and aim to make those positive changes. Continue to challenge yourself! Look for new lines, tuck longer, pump over the bumps, turn the opposite direction, jump the twig, leaves or bark, spin a quick 360 around the tree, glide on one ski, have a glide contest with a teammate on the downhill, JUST DON'T HIT THE REPEAT BUTTON. Spice it up and make it fun:-)

Monday

Reminder, the Race this Tuesday in NOT HAPPENING.

Thursday is Secret Santa:-)

Friday is the Mora Invite. Sprints for Varsity, 5km for JV.
Saturday is the Mora Pursuit. Varsity only.

I skied at Riverside today and the snow was holding up really well. They added the playground loop. Bumpy and rolly but an extra 100m never felt so good!!

See everyone tomorrow. Thanks again to everyone who made the Saturday morning practice!

Fri/Sat

Such a fun racing format yesterday. The relay is always an exciting change of pace:-) There were many positives yesterday at all levels but again a chance to find areas that need improvement. We will go over those today at practice.

I loved all the cheering of teammates! Continue to make that a priority.

NO RACE NEXT TUESDAY!!

I need to know who is going to the race next Saturday at Mora. PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP.

We will be having practice this Saturday. Details at practice today.
Looking ahead I see a big melt on the way:-( Snow conditions will be deteriorating over the weekend and into next week. Let's make the most of these next two days! Just a reminder we are skiing but this isn't skiing. Winter will find us, fingers crossed, and when it does we'll see an explosion of growth with the true opportunities it provides.

Thanks for being so positive everyone!

Race Schedule Page

Just a reminder on the right side of the page you can find the link to upcoming race flyers/schedules.

I just want to thank everyone for being so patient and making the most of this early season skiing opportunity.

With such a small space I know learning to ski is even more challenging. Keep up the positive attitude and good things will come. Between Peggy and me, I feel we are spread a bit thin to meet with everyone but when the chance presents it self just stop us and ask for advice or input. The most important thing is just keep skiing.

Please, please get your driver, rider waiver signed by your parent!!!

See everyone tomorrow.

We are RACING this THURSDAY @ Riverside.

5 Spruce Pots left!!! Please try and make your final sales.

So much fun on the trail run! Luckily we had enough snow to follow tracks for anyone losing contact with the group;-)

Tomorrow we'll be outside for a short run to start then back in for strength.

We will be done by 5 for everyone not needing skis.

Those students who missed getting fit for skis last week will get fit at the end of practice. PLEASE, PLEASE show up otherwise you won't have skis for the fun ahead!

See everyone tomorrow.

Wednesday Trail Run

We're going to spice things up a bit and go do a trail run.

Students who have roller skis can bring them and ski the paved trail.

No snow more dryland

So fun to get on the snow this past weekend! Thanks to those who made it out.

If you don't have skis and didn't get fit last Tuesday please make sure Peggy and I are aware so we can get you set up. We'll do classic ski fits a bit later in the season.

Cold and sunny is the forecast for tomorrow. We'll start outside and finish up inside.

We will have practice on Friday morning so mark your calendars and try to set up a ride.
You can also plan on a Saturday morning practice as well.

Not sure on the Spruce Pot count, 30ish, but if you've only sold one or two make a little push so we can wrap it up. Big thanks to everyone out there who have gone above and beyond!!

Snow making starts up this Thursday at Riverside Park. If you have anytime available please contact me. The Central MN Ski Club will be running 24 hour shifts if temps are cold enough.

Monday, November 19, 2018

Is it already Friday!

We will meet outside the choir room/door 17 tomorrow.
The whole practice will be outdoors. Bring gloves and a hat.
Post practice ski fitting for those in need.

Snow making operations have been postponed until Nov. 28th.

We're down to 60 Spruce Pots!! Let's keep in rolling.

Ski opportunity Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. We'll talk details tomorrow.

Sunday, November 18, 2018

Monday

Keep pumping out the Spruce Pots! The email update was awesome, 86 to go! Please try and do your part. This helps keep the ski trip cost down, supply the team with skis, Skate and Classic, boots, wax and waxing equipment, uniforms and roller ski supplies as well! The school doesn't provide money for any of these items.

It's a short week but we'll make the most of it. Inside outside again Monday. Temps look like low twenties for the run so bring proper gear. Think about the week ahead. If you're staying close to home there may be options to get skiing Wednesday, Friday or Saturday. We could set up shuttles to go down to Elm.

If you need skis we'll set you up Tuesday after practice:-)

Also, I know snow making operations are starting up Nov 23rd at Riverside. This is a 24 hour operation. Once we start we don't stop for 3-4 days. If you could volunteer time please contact me. The shifts are usually six hours. You move hoses, recover by the Riverside shelter fire for an hour or so than repeat.

Week one was phenomenal! Let's keep it rolling.

Tuesday, November 13, 2018

Wednesday

Did you sell a Spruce Pot tonight? Make it happen!

Question of the day? Best or current series/movie you're watching on Netflix?

Tomorrow we'll turn it up a bit. Bring your fast shoes;-)

A little thought... you get back what you put into the work out. I don't know your number but you do. Give one more push up, hold that plank a bit tighter, hold a better posture, be strong, it all adds up. When you hit that last hill or enter into a final sprint you'll have the ability to go.

Let's keep the positive energy rolling. Nice work today everyone!

Monday, November 12, 2018

Day One

Thanks for making day one so great! No complaints with temps colder than a typical January day.
We'll hit the repeat button tomorrow. Chilly run to start. Less wind and more sun it should feel great. After that back inside so pack for both.

Fundraiser Goal.
Try and get 8 Spruce Pot orders.

If you didn't turn in your money today please remember for tomorrow.

Practice will again start from the Tiger @ 3:30.

Done and Done

Thanks everyone! So great catching up and sharing stories at the banquet:-)

Please remember to drop uniforms and skis off before spring break (room 178). We finally have that white gold and corduroy so if you still find yourself looking to ski please keep you're skis until after the big melt.

Again, it's extremely tough with 16 seniors to sum up 3,4 or even 5 years of skiing together for some of us in the few minutes I had to share about each of you. With 16 seniors leaving us. I hope you laughed or were reminded of times you've spent with this Team, friends you made, and trails you skied last night. I pushed you a little harder this year as it was our last. Hope you found something new in yourself and have grown as individual through your effort or time with this Team.
THANK YOU EVERYONE.

Check back here from time to time, I've been simmering a few stories on low heat to share from the season past.

I lost half my face out there and I didn't go down the hill at 20mph. They just did work:-) Big props to the little ones.

Everyone with Team Equipment you can keep your skis till March. It will inevitably snow after the season, so go enjoy it when it does. I'll send out e-mail reminders.

I hope everyone who raced in Bemidji came away motivated and with a clear idea of what improvements or gains you need to meet your goals.

See everyone tomorrow at Riverside.
